Miniwin Electronic Commerce was founded and launched their first project windiscount.ca(a local discount information website) on Oct, 2013.
At the beginning, company focused on providing local discount information to Chinese community in Winnipeg, Canada. We've tried collecting discount information daily from each local stores(included Superstore, Costco, Bestbuy, &etc), then share and post daily on Weibo (a Chinese microblogs, similar to Twitter). We also collect & share local events, fun places for hangout, restaurants that must try, and any other such information to local Chinese community.

We used WordPress Platform to build a review website to hosts consumer reviews of restaurants, schools, stores, &etc. Similar to Yelp and TripAdvisor.
As a Business Manager & Co-founder
- Managed and updated the company’s website content using WordPress
- Assign duties, responsibilities, and spans of authority to project personnel, determine staffing requirements, and interview
- Plan and direct activities such as Marketing, assisted in designing advertisement flyers to promote business awareness
- Preparing and delivering business plans including forecasting, budgets, cost and SWOT analysis

How We Fail
- Limited target customers, only focus on Chinese community in Winnipeg
- Should focus one thing at a time
- None of the founders are developers, we spent too much money on building website and paid it to a third-party organization
- Persistence is important! "The way to success is full of failure and difficulty." When things doesn't go well as expected, we gave up too early.
